Microsoft Deep-Sixes 'Palladium' Name



Microsoft's decided to trade in the "Palladium" code name for a less-sinister-sounding (?) "Next Generation Secure Computing Base." Company product managers acknowledged that some prodding from another unnamed company with claims on the Palladium trademark also might have had something to do with the decision to drop the name. Palladium is still on schedule, Microsoft managers attest, but decline to offer any kind of due date for the hardened operating-system/hardware combo.
