From Microsoft Watch: Microsoft is seeking to patent XML interoperability technology around Word. The company claims it isn't seeking to derail XML. And it denies that its patent moves contradict its decision last fall to open up its XML schemas for Word, Excel and InfoPath. What's your take? Is Microsoft within its rights to seek protection for technology that rides above the XML standard? Or is this just another example of Microsoft seeking to monkey with standards? |
