Dusty's Office 2007 Adventure
|
News Brief. Sometimes, business problems multiply like rabbits. |
Microsoft is releasing a number of short films on the Web to promote Office 2007. Just in time for Valentine's Day, actress Amy Sedaris and some bunnies get a little Word 2007 help for her cupcake business.
Apparently, Sedaris really does run a cupcake business, when she's not acting. But somehow I doubt the bunnies assist her, although her main rabbit co-star, a mini-rex named Dusty, is her real pet.
I'm a huge fan of viral marketing campaigns. They're relatively cheap to produce and, when done well, are highly effective. "Rabbit Rescue" is delightful, cute and funny. I give it two thumbs up.

I made it 72 seconds before I had to make it stop.

Congratulations, in just a matter of a few months, you have switched from a Microsoft watcher to just a Microsoft evangelist.
A big vendor's bitch with a "journalist" facade.
Prepare your resume. It won't be very long before you are unemployed.

Joe, each to their own mate, but that was terrible.

Give me a break. No person with enough money to purchase Office 2007 would be so foolish to be persuaded by this childish commercial. Heck, calling this childish insults children, but it's hard to find words to describe this waste of time and effort.

I agree with Joe.
This marketing doesn't target people with money. It targets the KIDS of the people with money.
The more kids feel comfortable with Office ("Hey I know Office"), the more they will ask their moms and dads to buy them Office.

Awww! It's so kewt!
First time I saw Excel 2007 I was in a hurry to get something out. I logged on to an available PC in a bullpen area. It had Office 2007. "WTF"??!! Where is "conditional format"? Where is "change text to number"? Where are all the functions? Where is "set print area"??!! Argh!!!! Don't use it for the first time when you are actually trying to accomplish something! Now that I've used it a few times, I'm starting to figure out the "ribbon".
@ZzarkLinux : I don't think it's about the kids wanting their daddies and mommies to buy them Office 2007, it's about the kids explaining the 2007 features to mommy and daddy. Note that the "ribbon" is highlighted in the video.
Dad: WTF!!?? Where's my "conditional formatting?"
Sweetums: Daddy, calm down. It's here on the ribbon. See?
Dad: I love my kids. The ribbon is my friend. Office 2007 is okay. (repeat)
:)

Whatever happened to wanting a pony?

@ Tom B: LOL, but I think you are right!
Dad: Here's your new PC. I put OpenOffice on it.
Snookums: Waaa! I want a ribbon!
Dad: You're lucky to have OpenOffice. Back in my day, we ran VisiCalc under DOS. We actually had to memorize function keys.
Snookums: Waaa! I want a ribbon!

Let's just be thankful it's not another Dinosaur head. Whether targeted at consumer or enterprise, Dusty's Office 2007 Adventure is a creative way to engage and educate the end-user ... who ultimately will make or influence the purchase.
Have to agree with Joe. Two thumbs up.

You can't get homework done with a pony. And no homework means no pony...

Office 2007 is everything Vista isn't. MS really got THAT right!

Cute but not a commercial. Message is poles apart from the client. She is at the accounting sheet level.
