Microsoft is trying a new tack in its skirmish with the European Union in its never-ending antitrust case there. The Redmond software company, after making nice and offering what it construed as a major peace offering (licensing communications-protocol related elements of the Windows source code), is now going on the attack. Microsoft is asking for an extension of its current February 15 deadline for complying with the European Commission's request for it to provide documentation around its protocols, and is claiming that the EC is withholding documentation the company needs to comply with the Court's request.
