Intel provided, as expected, a first (and quick) glimpse on Tuesday at the Intel Developer Forum of the Origami ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs) that have been in the news for the past couple of weeks. UMPCs will allow users to connect to the Internet, check e-mail and even do things like make VOIP (voice-over-IP) phone calls, manage photos, listen to music and watch video. Intel showed off two "concept" UMPCs at the show, but the bigger Origami prototype unveiling is expected at CeBit on Thursday. For the record, the code name "Origami" seems to be the code name for the shell that runs on top of Windows and provides the souped-up multimedia capabilities on UMPC devices.
