Nokia Mail for Exchange Is Available
|
News Brief. Just weeks after announcing Microsoft Exchange support for more S60 phones, Nokia delivers the goods. |
Nokia already had provided Exchange support for its E-Series mobiles, including the E71. The new Mail for Exchange client, v2.7, extends capabilities to other Nokia mobiles, including N-Series. Note: I couldn't get the drop-down menus for downloading to work from Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2. But Firefox 3.02 is a charmer.
Among the new features is autodiscovery for Exchange Server 2007. I haven't yet tested the software, but can say I was quite impressed with the Nokia E71 mail client. Autodiscovery worked flawlessly. I easily set up several e-mail accounts on the device.
Nokia's Exchange support means that Microsoft's ActiveSync is available for the majority of mobile operating systemsBlackBerry, iPhone, Symbian and Windows Mobile. Symbian was supported, but only for a limited number of handsets. Say, what about Google? Gulp, will Exchange support ever come to Android?
