Imagine That!
|
Microsoft has announced winners of its Imagine Cup competition, and we would like to congratulate some of the winners. |
More than 370 student developers attended the finals this week in Seoul, South Korea. They had created projects in nine categories.
A few weeks ago, we spoke with two teams headed to the finals. One of them, Trivent Dreams-ED from Universidade Federal de Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil, took first place in the Embedded Development category. Trivent Dreams created the E-du box, a low-cost, embedded educational computer that attaches to TVs, instead of PC monitors.
We offer our congratulations to the team.
More information about their project can be found in our August 1 podcast.

To me this is a really special event for programming! If you want to see more about it, http://Channel8.msdn.com has it pretty well covered!

Joe; I like reading you even if I don't always agree with you. But, where is the actual news here for folks not wanting to link to a podcast? I know, it helps drive listenership but could you have posted a little more detailed information since you bothered to post at all?
I still like reading your site.

Joe is playing both sides. In order to keep up the user base on the website he appeals to both sides. If he wants to drive those advertisement dollars he can't let everyone think he is bashing MS that bad and let them not come to the site.
I'm being sarcastic to show that if one perceives all actions are for money. Then one can see any action as being money driven. If I perceive MS as doing all things for money I could do the same with eWeek and mswatch.com.
Can those in the know on MS doing all things for money explain how this was geared towards those greedy actions? All I can think of is in the small print the contestants do not own what ever it was they create and that it is the property of MS?
Where is the bashing Joe it is not like you I'm stunned, must be vacation jitters or something the idea of getting away from FUD articles makes you a bit soft?

Gee, I never thought of it that way. You mean Joe Willcox has to make a living just like the rest of us?
But you know, trying to draw a comparison between the way Joe makes his money, and Microsoft makes theirs, is where your argument falls flat on its face. Microsoft seems willing to do almost anything, legal and not to make money.

Actually Joe Willcox articles appeal to readers who want to hear a little different story than all the other sites out their that just drip with MS fanboyism. It why people read Joe's articles, because they are different and intelligent.
While we like to hear the truth from Joe, we do understand that the truth sometimes is not always what you want it to be. And there are the commercial aspects of advertisement to consider as well, MS has their tentacles into everything, it seems.
