Microsoft's Lotus FUD Tools
|
News Brief. It's mini-Microsoft FUD Watch, on account of Microsoft's Lotus migration tools Q&A. Can you say, "fear, uncertainty and doubt?" |
It's Lotusphere in Orlando, Fla,, and Microsoft just can't resist playing spoiler to IBM announcementssoftware-as-a-service offerings for SMBs, new forthcoming Domino and Notes features, and software collaboration agreement with SAP.
The companies are knocking heads as Microsoft pushes into unified communications areas where IBM already has a foothold and SharePoint stomps on Domino, Notes and WebSphere turf.
The Q&A, with Chris Capossela, a Business division veep, is FUD because the content is more about Lotus switchers than Microsoft alternatives. Capossela rattles on about product growth figures and then goes for IBM FUDugular:
"Much of the new growth is coming from customers switching from Notes and Domino. In the last six months of 2007, in the enterprise customer segment alone, more than 300 firms representing 2.8 million people began the move to Exchange Server, Office SharePoint Server and the Office suite. That's a 164 percent increase over the same period in 2006 and includes companies like Colliers, Garudafoods, Kordsa Global, Siemens and Westinghouse. We're already on track to exceed these numbers in 2008."
He continues: "We're releasing an updated version of our Microsoft Transporter Suite for Lotus Domino," Capossela said. If your organization wants off Notes, Microsoft has got a new tool for you.

Most of what's worth reporting about VCSY is contained in its latest 10-Q. You can find it at:
http://yahoo.brand.edgar-online.com/fetc...
This is the report where VCSY talks about its negative cash flow and how its debts are many times its assets. That report also offers choice tidbits like:

In summary, the company has been losing money consistently. It has not paid its payroll taxes. The 10-Q also shows that the company is in default on many loans. Read it carefully. It shows in exceuciating detail why I-Man is so desperate.

You neglected that this is exactly the same pre-Lotusphere message released the previous two years. Think they're getting a bit desperate for new ideas?
If you've ever used this new "tool" you'd find that it doesn't actually help you convert at all...in most cases it indicates that you need a consultant to help you convert.
Handy huh?
