With one hand Microsoft giveth, and with the other hand, it seems to be increasingly taking away bits and pieces of Groove Networks' potential business. Microsoft is doing more on its own in the collaboration space, with Greenwich, PlaceWare and other products. But, at the same time, Microsoft is still investing in Groove. On Wednesday, it joined Intel Capital and Accel Partners in a $38 million round of funding, supplementing the $51 million stake in Groove Microsoft took in 2001.
