Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta 1: New Packaging; Giant's Product
|
As reported earlier this week, Microsoft made available on Thursday a first beta release of its planned Windows AntiSpyware product, based on code it acquired from Giant Company Software in December. Company officials also are working on a Windows malicious software removal tool that Microsoft will update every Patch Tuesday (the second Tuesday of each month) to respond to new viruses, worms and other rogue software. The anti-spyware beta product is available for download. Those who go to Microsoft's Download site to obtain the beta will be asked (but not required) to verify that they aren't running a pirated version of Windows, as part of Microsoft's Genuine Windows anti-piracy effort. |

i hope ms improved this software a bit, i tryed it about two months ago and it seemed to work very good, then it started picking up things i didn't have. thats the good news. getting rid of it was real chore, had to jump through many hoops and not sure now, it's all gone. it seemed to attach it's self to many system files.

i think it will be a mistake if ms includes this software in the windows os. number 1 it will make new targets, number 2 can see more law suits. number 3 having third party software gives the user some leway in how thier system works. think it's more then ok, to offer it as a choice. i for one wouldn't want to rely on ms software totality.
