On Tuesday, Microsoft shared publicly a few of the features it is expecting to include in the "Emerald" release of Windows XP Media Center that is due out this fall. Microsoft announced that it is readying a "a free software update to Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 that will enable customers to take advantage of the Media Center Extender technologies built into Xbox 360 gaming systems. Emerald is that free Media Center update, which Microsoft is likely to make available as a free downloadable to current Media Center 2005 users.
