While Microsoft Group VP Jim Allchin let the hint drop last week that Microsoft was considering an interim version of Windows before Longhorn, it sounds like he dropped some other, less-widely-reported news nuggets, as well. Seattle Times columnist Paul Andrews reports that Allchin also said during a dinner for the local tech press that Microsoft was planning to eliminate the "Windows Classic" interface option from Longhorn. But sounds as if the negative press reception that idea received may have Allchin and crew rethinking that plan.
