Microsoft is slated to take the wraps off Windows XP Media Center "Emerald" on Friday, our sources say. The new release, which Microsoft is going to christen "Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center 2005" we hear, will be supported by some key new partnerships with the likes of AOL, Akimbo and MTV.com. But the big bang Media Center "Diamond" update isn't slated until 2006. And it's sounding more and more like the Diamond functionality could be morphed into one or more SKUs of Windows Vista, as opposed to being released as a standalone product.
