No Windows For You, South Korea?
|
Microsoft has decided to draw a line in the sand in South Korea, yet another place the Redmond software company is under investigation for alleged antitrust violations. Instead of chancing the creation of another "Windows N" (Windows sans Media Player), Microsoft has told the Korean government that "if the KFTC (Korean Fair Trade Commission)enters an order requiring Microsoft to remove code or redesign Windows uniquely for the Korean market, it might be necessary to withdraw Windows from the Korean market or delay offering new versions in Korea unless the remedial order is stayed or overturned on appeal." This seems like a dangerous tactic, in our minds. Why not just erect a huge "Welcome Linux!" billboard in the middle of Seoul? |
