Oracle Trial Judge Gives Microsoft's Claims No Credence
|
The Oracle trial judge didn't find Microsoft's arguments credible. Microsoft tried to block Oracle's attempted purchase of PeopleSoft. The Redmond software vendor claimed it had no designs on the enterprise ERP market in spite of its contemplation of purchasing ERP enterprise kingpin SAP. In yesterday's ruling allowing Oracle to continue its pursuit of PeopleSoft, the judge said: "It strains credulity to believe that Microsoft would offer billions of dollars to acquire SAP merely to make data processing easier for customers who use both Microsoft Office and SAP ERP." There were 77 references to Microsoft in the ruling, as Seattle Post-Intelligencer blogger Todd Bishop notes. |
