Packing a Wallop

Microsoft researcher and social interface expert Lili Cheng showed off new technology under development code-named "Wallop." Wallop is software that intelligently groups projects, data and people information and displays these groups of social networks via blogs. Cheng says she is working "quite a bit" with people on the Longhorn team. Indeed, Wallop sounds quite a bit like the "People and Groups" technology that the Redmondiands are building into Longhorn. (There is a Wallop Web page, but it's limited to registered participants only.) Cheng offered a few glimpses of Wallop as part of the Microsoft Research keynote at the PDC on Wednesday.
