MSN Premium — the broadband version of MSN 9.0 — is not due for release until January 8. But our Ziff Davis colleagues already have product in hand, and a review on the PCMag.com site. What do you get with the new release? Integrated versions of McAfee VirusScan and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus, not to mention more and better e-mail filters, a pop-up guard and additional parental controls. There are additional "value-added" services and content from Microsoft featured as part of MSN Premium, too. MSN is planning to undercut AOL with its AOL Optimized offering, with "bring your own access" for $9.95 per month, or broadband service from Microsoft ISP partner, approximately $39.95 to $49.95 per month. No word on the whereabouts of MSN Plus, however, which is still supposed to ship before the end of this calendar year.
