February 12: Windows 2000 source code leaks to the Web. February 15: First exploit based on leaked code reported. So much for claims that the leaked code wouldn't lead to new security risks. UPDATE: Microsoft says this vulnerability isn't new and that it patched it, as of Internet Explorer 6, Service Pack 1. But it seems like only a matter of time until a new security breach resulting from the leaked code is discovered. |
