The XP SP2 Deployment Saga Continues
|
Hardware and software vendors, including Microsoft itself, are continuing to issue warnings and guidelines in an attempt to help users avoid Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) deployment problems. The latest? Microsoft is advising customers to do a system spyware scan before attempting to upgrade to SP2. Meanwhile, PC makers are issuing their own cautions regarding the Microsoft service pack. |

I just installed SP2 on my machines and haven't had a SINGLE problem. I'm no Microsoft fan, but really, what's the deal?
If a program doesn't work, add it to Microsoft Firewall to allow it to use the required ports. Big deal! Am I missing something else or what?

The big deal is the firewall blocks too much. I installed sp2 and common programs, ie Quicken would not update bank info. Even after adding Quicken to the list of allowed programs it would not allow access. Sp2 needs more tweaks.
