There Is, Indeed, a Windows XP SP3

We're not quite sure why so many folks seem surprised, but there is, indeed, a Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 3 on Microsoft's books. (If there weren't going to be such a beast, we'd be a lot more shocked.) Almost since the launch of SP2, Microsoft officials have made references to the existence of SP3, during keynotes and Web chats. And the folks over at TheHotfix.Net have been maintaining careful records of what's likely to be part of XP SP3. The big question, in our minds: Will Microsoft attempt to market SP3 like a whole new version of Windows (a la XP SP2), without officially designating it as such? |

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Preview actually contains security updates and hotfixes issued by Microsoft Corp. up to April 2nd, 2006; 248 files in total Each hotfix needs to be installed manually. when downloading, you may also get additional applications bundled with the software's installer file. These third party application may represent a hazard for your computer, so you will need to carefully read the installation notes. Attention: Internet Explorer 7 is not included in the package.

You cannot honestly believe that microsoft will release a sp3, and if they did what would be the purpose? vista is out and is taking over, everything that is coming down to pipe is going to require vista, if they made xp as good as vista you wouldnt be waiting for a service pack 3-tards.

try installing XP to a new box after sp2 it turns into a clickathon... 100 gillion little updates, why not take them all and combine them into a sp3. i mean it only makes GOOD sense... not something M$ is known for... with vista out of the bag its not likely they will continue with much in the way of improvements for XP. Besides were all to busy solving the new issues with vista, as usual they release a new os without having the bugs worked out, so that the real world of computer kings can solve the problems for them. aint that funny... they get the cash you do the work... typical of America i might ad... hell look at the diesel truck they sell, it takes aftermarket companys to get 25-30 mpg out of them, youd think the manufacturer would want to do that to begin with... sell junk, let the public make it great, and viola, you make millions on the end result... dont ya just love free interprise... yeeeshhh and for the guy talking about the armageddon and rapture, with a mouth like that you think your not gonna be there to see it all happen >>?? if you are, you missed the rapture and are due the same price the people you claim to be guilty and are insulting are going to pay... hate is the problem not the solution...

I have a copy of SP3 beta installed, but I have found little documentation to show what is included.....perhaps it is a spy tool? Can anyone tell me about the function of this new service pack?

Well if your missing drivers SP3 won't help you with that. SP3 only "fix" Windows XP to run better and be less buggy.
If you wanna have a driver update for sound card that's like asking a cheese shop for cheese. You have to specify witch sound card you have.
If you bought your computer reseantly you can ask at the shop you bought it from. Usually they'll help you. Be aware that some might try to get paid for installing drivers. Drivers are FREE to download.
If you don't know anything much about computers you can always go to www.pcpitstop.com and try some of the tests. Mostly of them are free.
Well enough of me s***talk.
I have installed SP3 for Windows and it fixed some of the bugs related to Explorer. Before it sometimes hanged when I was watching a big folder, but now it don't. Not yet anyway.
