Currently as everyone from the Department of Justice to the most stalwart Linux backer is well-aware Microsoft has cornered in excess of 90 percent of the desktop operating-system market. But those wild and crazy folks over at IDC research are claiming that by 2007, Windows will constitute a much more modest 58 percent of the client OS market. How can this be? IDC includes smartphone operating systems in its "client operating system" pool. Based on that definition, Symbian will capture 17 percent of the market in three years, IDC says. |
