Wraps Come Off Windows Workflow Foundation

At long last, Microsoft is talking publicly about its plans to build workflow services into Windows. At the Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in Los Angeles on Wednesday, company officials unveiled Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF). Company officials described the WWF as a "natural extension to the .Net Framework." Microsoft plans to incorporate the WWF, a workflow engine and programming model, into Windows Longhorn Server. Office 12 and future versions of BizTalk Server and various Dynamics applications will build on WWF, company officials added. Microsoft distributed the Beta 1 WWF bits to PDC attendees.
