What Is IBM's Small Business 'Foundations'?



Podcast. Big Blue believes there is a big role for Linux servers among small businesses.

Yesterday I spoke with Caleb Barlow, senior product manager for IBM Lotus Foundations, about IBM's new small business appliance server. He went into quite a bit more detail about the product and channel strategy than appeared in my post the same day, Nov. 10.

Briefly, IBM is looking to muscle its way into—and push Microsoft out of—the small business server and services market. Big Blue's announcement was preemptive: Tomorrow, Nov. 12, Microsoft officially launches Small Business Server 2008.
