How NSS Labs Tested IE 8's Security

The president of NSS Labs, Rick Moy, describes its testing of Internet Explorer 8's security against both phishing sites and socially engineered malware as sound and unbiased. Online commenters had accused NSS Labs' two papers on IE 8 security of bias because both were funded by Microsoft. Moy argues that every aspect of the research is sound.

Is IE 8 Truly a Security Improvement over IE 6?

Two Microsoft-sponsored studies by NSS Labs show that Internet Explorer 8 is a security improvement over Internet Explorer 6. However, with many people still continuing to use the older version of the browser, which came bundled with Windows XP, Microsoft finds itself trying to convince users to upgrade to the newer, more secure version.
