Exchange 2007 SP1 Readies for the 'Big Bang'

While the world waits for Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Microsoft delivers another SP1—for Exchange 2007.

The Exchange update comes one day short of the one-year anniversary of the product's launch, on Nov. 30, 2006, along with Office 2007 and Windows Vista. However, the software was available later. Exchange Server 2007 released to manufacturing in December 2006.

Microsoft's rush to release Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1, even sooner than the Vista update, is very much about compatibility. The update ensures that Exchange 2007 will work with Office Communications Server 2007 and Windows Server 2008.

Windows Server 2008 support, even months ahead of the software's release, is hugely important to Microsoft and its partners. Some analysts predict that Windows Server 2008 will unleash a "Big Bang" of infrastructure upgrades. Microsoft needs to get all its desktop and server ducks in a row now.

The 2007 releases of Office Communications, Exchange and SharePoint form a trinity of servers around which Microsoft wants to pull sales of other products, including Office 2007. Windows Server is the foundation for all three server products. Combined, the four products are core to Microsoft's push into business intelligence, business workflow, group collaboration and unified communications.

The Exchange update has other significance, which foreshadows rapid service pack release for other server products: Microsoft plans to release hosted versions of major server software. Preparation for the transition is a secondary benefit to the update.

Earlier this month, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates told Microsoft shareholders: "We want to have all of our software available in both a service form and a server form to give our customers flexibility."

Exchange hosting will eventually be available direct from Microsoft and its partners, or on-site. Sign of services changes to come: SP1 improves Outlook Web Access.

RED FLAG!! Why so many posters on the message boards trying to keep investors from buying VCSY shares?

Whenever someone trys to get you to stay away and claims there is nothing in it for them, somethings up!

Of course I think investors should buy VCSY and something is in it for me, seeing the Shorters having to Short even more, but it's fine if investors want to wait till some news comes out that proves what Portuno, POS, Sirius, Morrie and other Longs have been saying is true, that's OK but don't expect to be able to buy in under 2 cents a share ever again.
An IBM or Verizon announcement alone could send this to multiple dollars overnight, then the dream of buying in at pennies is over and that's what the Bashers goal is, to discourage readers/investors from buying in before the big news hits!

And let's not forget the Microsoft lawsuit where VCSY could get a BIG Settlement or have Microsoft slapped with an INJUNCTION and then put a hurting on them in court!!

Here's a thread discussing how a VCSY might secure an injunction against Microsoft for infringing against patent 6826744 and damaging VCSY's business.

We'll see what kinds of arguments the other side can present to make these conditions go away

Businesses delay Vista plans until 2009
CIO Jury: "It could be a long wait"

"Businesses remain unconvinced about the benefits of moving to Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system and most are delaying any plans to upgrade until 2009 at the earliest."

"One year after the business launch of Vista, only one of silicon.com's 12-strong CIO Jury IT user panel said they had plans to move to the new OS in 2008."

Research indicates Windows Server 2008 could flop
http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/22480

"Research indicates that Windows Server 2008 could be just as big a flop in the enterprise as Windows Vista. In a survey of 687 IT professionals conducted by Network World, half of them said that they have no plans whatsoever to upgrade to Windows Server 2008 at any time after it launches in February."

"This compares to 13 percent that said they would upgrade in the first 12 months after its release; 9 percent that plan to upgrade 13 - 24 months after release: a mere 8% that say they'll roll out Windows Server 2008 after they finish rolling out Vista; and 19% that say they have just begun to think about their plans."
