What We Think of Vista

In a new podcast eWeek editor Scot Petersen and I share experiences about testing Windows Vista and using the "gold" code.

I confess, testing Vista was painful. Painful. But the finished product, while somewhat the shell of Microsoft's original vision, is enjoyable and fun. Scot and I both praise the visual experience, which he described as "stunning."

Well I never ... Scot Peterson ... editor of eweek... Mr. "Vista ready, not for me" !
Now I have heard everything.
Now you and he like "Vista" do you ?? You guys are so full of it, it is unreal !
Every chance you (Joe Wilcox) have had you've canned it as hard as you could.
You guys just can't be believed !

Neil :

For those of you who wondered why Joe Wilcox's stories were not checked by his editor, I have found out why !
HE IS THE EDITOR !!
Oh ! my god !
You and Scot Peterson are a good pair then !

ItsMe :

Is this podcast pay per comment?
The fit and finish and look of Vista is better than MacOSX? I beta tested Vista since Beta 1 and although Vista RTM is good, it certainly isn't great. UI inconsistencies abound. Have another look guys.

haha everyone h8s Joe

No way...how much is MS paying you? You have to like Vista. You are a converted Mac user? The Mac OS is not stable enough. You are working in OSX with a fast Intel based MacPro and boom, your Mac freezes. For no good reason. At least Vista does not do this, yet.

How safe is Vista?

I like it when words like Elegant are used to describe an interface. Yes, Vista is elegant? XP's basic theme was cheezy?

Vista network connection is tempermental? Sounds like a Mac. This must be fixed!!! I cannot imagine anything more frustrating. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM.

Joe then gives an interesting discussion of why the network connection is tempermental. He has no idea why. Call Microsoft and find out.
