Microsoft to Buy Remote-Sensing Company with Mapping Tie-Ins

No press release (yet) from Microsoft on this one. But it looks like the Redmond software maker is about to acquire remote-sensing vendor Vexcel Corp. for an undisclosed sum. The Vexcel purchase is expected to tie in with Microsoft's Live search and mapping technologies in some way. Vexcel, based in Boulder, Colo., offers mapping, satellite ground systems and advanced radar technologies.
