Fix Windows 10 May 2020 Update (Version 2004) Not Showing on Windows Update

Microsoft released the latest update of Windows 10 May 2020 (version 2004, build 19041) in May 2020 through the Windows Update Center. All devices running earlier versions of Windows 10 (e.g. 1903 and 1909) will receive an upgrade offer from the Windows Update Center before the new May 2020 upgrade.

However, many Windows 10 users do not receive the new Windows 10 update for version 10 from the Windows Update Center. Every time you click the “Check for Updates” button, Windows 10 checks for new updates and displays the “You’re aware” message. This way, your devices will not be able to recognize an update to a new feature from May 2020.

If you are also tired and disappointed and still waiting for the Windows 10 May 2020 Update, this article will help you.

The reasons why the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (version 2004) is not displayed in the Windows Update Center

If you checked the Windows Update Center for the May 2020 update and don’t see anything, it’s likely your device was hung up or isn’t updating. Microsoft added a warning to the Windows Update Center on the weekend for devices that cannot be updated.

Microsoft has also gradually limited the availability of the Windows Update Center for May 10, 2020 through the Windows Update Center, so this option may not be displayed for many, regardless of device blocks and drivers.

The latest update will also be blocked on systems with applications or games that use GameInput Redistributable. Microsoft is not clear which applications or games use it, but the company said that “with the May 2020 update, affected applications or games may lose their mouse grip”.

How to get Windows 10 May 2020 Update

To ensure that you get a reliable and productive experience with your Windows 10 devices, we take a balanced and phased approach to May Update, initially limiting availability to devices running Windows 10 versions 1903 and 1909 that are looking for an upgrade through the Windows Update Center.

The May 2020 Update is available for customers who want to install this latest version. When you are ready to install the update, open the Windows Update Center settings (Settings> Update and Security> Windows Update Center) and select Check for Updates. When the update is available, you can choose to download and install it. (Note. You may not see the download and installation on your device, as we will gradually reduce this availability in the coming weeks. Otherwise your device may have a compatibility problem which will have a security breach as long as ‘so we’re sure that’s true. this is a good update experience). Once the download is complete and the upgrade is ready to install, you will be notified so that you can choose a suitable time to complete the installation and reboot your device to make sure the upgrade is not worth it. This new download and install feature is available for devices running Windows 10 version 1903 or 1909.

It is reported that a Windows update from May 10, 2020 caused a PC failure during installation.

It seems that the problem occurs when a PC with old drivers or incompatible software tries to install an update.

To avoid this problem, you must first update all drivers. Check out our Windows 10 Driver Update Guide.

If you have already tried to install the update and your computer crashes, you need to perform a clean Windows 10 May 2020 Update. However, be careful, as this means you will lose the installed programs and files.

While some problems are expected in the first days of the new version of Windows 10, it’s amazing that so many users are facing this many problems, as the company spent several months preparing for the May 2020 upgrade.

In addition to user complaints, Microsoft has also published a long list of known problems with the new feature update, forcing the company to temporarily add compatibility blocks for affected devices to avoid additional problems.

It should be noted that there are some problems that affect only a small number of users. However, when you see a large number of problems, think about whether the feature update was ready for the general public or if it took more time to develop.

If your computer has not received the 2004 version, it is recommended to wait for the automatic notification. Even so, you should wait a few months for the version to become more stable.

How to Fix Can’t Open Attachments in Outlook 2016/2010

Microsoft Outlook users reported a problem that prevents access to email attachments. In this problem, users cannot double-click to open Outlook attachments. Right-clicking on an attachment and selecting “Save As” does not work either. Instead, the application returns the error “Can’t open an Outlook attachment””. Simple hacks such as restarting an Outlook application will not solve the problem and attachments will not be available even after restarting the application. What will you do after? There is no reason to worry. We will walk you through this blog to help you solve the problem.

Symbols in the file name

If there is a question mark (?) or a plus sign (+) in the file name of an email attachment, you may not be able to open the sent attachments. In this case you will need to ask the sender to fix the file name and send you an email again.

Edit Microsoft Office Trust Settings

These errors appear when Office trust parameters do not allow opening unreliable files.

To fix this error, follow these steps:

  • Open Microsoft Word
  • Go to File -> Options -> Security Control Center.
  • Now click on the Security Control Center Settings.
  • Click Protected Preview on the left pane.
  • Now uncheck: Enable Protected View for Outlook attachments.
  • Click OK to save changes to the Security Control Center window.
  • Click OK in the Word settings.
  • Now close the Microsoft Word document and try to open an email with a Word attachment.

You can also repeat all the above steps in Microsoft Excel.

If the problem persists, the registry entry for Preview Manager may not be correct.

Outlook temporary files folder

The user cannot open attachments to Outlook 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, 2003 if they only have permission to access temporary Outlook Internet files managed on the server. This problem occurs when subfolders contain copies of files by default and the folder exceeds the storage limit. To solve this problem, you need to clear the Outlook temporary files folder.

To solve this problem, follow the steps below:

  • Click the Start button, select the Run command, type regedit and click OK.
  • Find and click
    • Outlook 2013 – HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 15.0 \ Outlook \ Security
    • Outlook 2010 – HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 14.0 \ Outlook \ Security
    • Outlook 2007 – HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 12.0 \ Outlook \ Security
    • Outlook 2003 – HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 11.0 \ Outlook \ Security
    • Outlook 2002 – HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 10.0 \ Outlook \ Security
  • Now find the OutlookSecureTempFolder registry section and open it.
  • Copy the key path from the key value, paste it into your browser and type it in.
  • Now clean up the folder.

Incorrect file association or problem with the program

Sometimes you may have the right program to open a certain file format, but you still get this error. This means that the file is not associated with the correct program. You can change the program to the one that suits you.

What I should do:

  • Save the attachment to your local disk instead of trying to open it directly from an email sent to you.
  • Open “Explorer” or “My computer”.
  • Right-click the file that was sent to you as an attachment, then select “Properties”.
  • Hover your mouse over “Open with”. Select “Edit” here to view the different programs of your choice. Click the program you want to open the file with, and click “Apply” or “OK”.
  • Can’t find your favorite program? Don’t worry, just click “Browse”, find the EXE file (executable file) of the program on your PC and select “OK” to make it the default attachment opener.
  • If you want to use this particular program to open all your attachments in the future, check the box next to “Always use this application to open” and select “OK”.

Run Outlook in Cached Exchange Mode

  • Open Outlook, click File on the upper application pane and select Account Options.
  • On the “Email” tab, select an Exchange account and click “Edit”.
  • Select the Use Exchange data caching mode checkbox. This will allow your Outlook to work in cached mode.
  • Reboot Outlook.

If you can’t open the attachment, look for possible solutions in this manual. Remember to download and open attachments only from a trusted sender, especially if the attachment is an executable file.

Even if the email came from someone you know, you should be especially careful. Ask what the executable is for, or have your organization’s IT department review the attachment before downloading it.

How to Fix Notepad Missing Issue in Windows 10

Sometimes the simple things are the best. Take a tiny notepad on a Windows PC, for example. It has been a part of Microsoft Windows computers for over two decades. Unfortunately, the future of Notepad looks unpredictable. We say this because many Windows 10 users reported that the laptop is missing from their PC.

If you are among the victims, you can restore Notepad using the Advanced Features screen, although we should treat Notepad as anything but optional. Losing it would be like seeing a beloved animal with an unhappy end (knowing that it is long gone).

While Notepad is mainly used to remove all the tedious formatting associated with copied text these days, a small part has been cracked in recent versions of Windows 10 as it was part of the Windows inbox since Windows 1.0. in 1985

Other known issues in this release include issues with Xbox controllers, dimming screens, and a message about 0.00 GHz CPU usage in Task Manager. Notepad does not always open files that are automatically saved on restart.

Add Notepad in the Optional Features of Windows 10

  • Right-click the Windows 10 Start Menu, select Settings,
  • Go to Apps and select Apps & features.
  • Then click the link for additional features on the right.
  • And from there, you can reinstall any apps you need to add / install additional feature (editor or color). Click Add Role.
  • Then find the feature, highlight it and click the Install button.
  • You can also install Notepad, MS Paint, or MS Word in the same way.

Find Notepad in Start Menu

Now that you know the reason why Notepad is missing from Windows 10, it’s time to find and install it. However, before I show you how to install Notepad, there are several ways to find Notepad on your computer. Notepad can still be installed on your computer, and only the shortcut should remain on the desktop, in the start menu, or in the taskbar.

Anyone using Windows 10 will search for Notepad in Start> Windows Accessories> Notepad.

You can also click on the search icon next to the Start menu. Enter notepad. Click Notepad to open it.

The problem of Notepad disappearing after a Windows update is not new. In fact, after upgrading to Windows 10 version 2004, many users noticed the app was missing.

However, many affected users may not be aware that Notepad is now an optional feature in Windows Update on May 10, 2020.

The good news is that if an app is missing after installing a new operating system, you can restore it using advanced operating system settings.

When your computer boots up, press F10 until “Windows loads the file” is displayed. When the Recovery Manager appears, go to the “Advanced options” section, select the last option, such as “System Restore” or “Restore computer to original functional settings” or “Restore factory settings”, and continue. • Click OK to save your changes. If you have more than one DVD player, you will need to repeat these steps for all of them.

Fix: Pin To Start Menu Not Working or Greyed Out in Windows 10

In Windows 10, when you right-click on a folder, an .exe file, or a shortcut to a .exe file, the Attach to run option may not be present. Also, in the Start menu, when you right-click on an item, the Attach to Start or Delete from Start options are available. Here are two possible reasons why this happens, and then a correction.

If both policy options, NoChangeStartMenu and LockedStartLayout, are set (using Group Policy or Registry based), the right-click drop-down menu item is removed to start. If your system is joined to a domain, your network administrator may have set these policies and you may need to contact him to relax the settings. Otherwise, registry-based settings may have been enabled by a third-party tool.

Check your antivirus program

According to users, if they can’t fix the tiles in the “Start” menu, the problem may be in your antivirus. Sometimes it can interfere with Windows 10 and interfere with some features.

However, you can easily solve this problem by checking your antivirus settings and disabling the problem option. If you can’t find the option responsible for this error, you may need to completely disable the antivirus to solve the problem.

In some cases you may even need to remove the antivirus. Users have reported problems with Kaspersky Anti-Virus, but simply removing it may solve the problem.

If you are using Kaspersky Anti-Virus and want to completely uninstall it from your computer, check out this amazing list of the best removal programs you can use right now.

Making changes in the registry editor

This method changes the registry entries. Therefore it is highly recommended to create a system recovery point before proceeding to the next steps to be safe. You can find step by step instructions on how to do this in our article on creating a recovery point in Windows 10.

  • At the same time, press the WIN + R keys to open the Run dialog box. When it opens, type regedit and press Enter.
  • The Registry Editor window will open. Then you need to go to the next path:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
  • When you are on the specified path, make sure that the path is correct, as shown below. Highlight the Explorer button by clicking it once. Now find the DWORD value named NoChangeStartMenu in the right pane. If you can’t find it, you can skip to Step 3 and proceed to Step 4. Otherwise, if you have a DWORD named NoChangeStartMenu, you need to either delete it or change its value data. To delete a DWORD, right-click on it and select “Delete”.
  • If you prefer to change these values, double-click NoChangeStartMenu. Enter 0 as a value in the “Value” field. Click OK.
  • Then follow the path below:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft Policies \ Windows \ Explorer
  • Make sure the path is the right one. Select the Explorer button by clicking on it. On the right pane of the Explorer button find a DWORD named LockedStartLayout. If there is no DWORD, there is nothing you can do. If DWORD LockedStartLayout exists, you need to either delete it or change its values as before. To delete it, right-click on DWORD LockedStartLayout and select “Delete”. If you prefer to edit these values rather than delete them, double-click DWORD LockedStartLayout and enter 0 for the value in the “Value” field.
  • This is it. Reboot the system for the changes to take effect. Check if the “LockedStartLayout” menu is working / available and right-click on the context menu options.

Register the shell32.dll file again

To re-register the shell32.dll file, follow these steps:

  • Click Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • In the Run dialog box, type cmd and press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER to open the command line in administrator mode.
  • In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter.
  • regsvr32 / i shell32.dll
  • Reboot the computer.

At startup, check if the startup menu problem does not work when you start up in Windows 10 or if it does not show up in gray.

Use the Windows 10 Default Theme

One of the quickest ways to fix and change this option is to enable the default theme pre-installed on your Windows computer. Once you do this, you will find that the option is no longer grayed out and you can change its settings.

  • Place your cursor in the Cortana search box, enter your settings, and then click the Settings application when you see it in the search results.
  • On the next screen, you need to find and click on the “Customize” option. The option you are looking for is there.
  • When the menu opens, look at the left sidebar, find the Themes option, and click on it. This allows you to apply the new theme to your PC.
  • You will see different themes that you can use on your computer. You want to find a window and click on it. The topic will be immediately applied to your PC.
  • Now, if you go to a screen where this option was previously unavailable, you will find that it is no longer gray and you can really work with it.

Although this method does its job with just a few clicks of the mouse, there is actually a limitation. As you can see from the above steps, you need to apply the standard Windows theme to your computer.

Once we use our computer, we always run several applications or documents at once. Use the Alt + Tab key combination to switch between two frequently used applications or documents that have been modified in Windows.

However, if you press Alt + Tab, Windows will not display anything or show any open applications or documents for a second or two and then disappear. This means that “Alt Tab does not work”.

You may be wondering why this problem occurs. There are several reasons for this problem, for example: B. keyboard, wrong system settings, conflict between files, etc.

Now let’s see how to fix the “Alt Tab does not work” problem. Here, I recommend first to turn off the device and run all cables. Then wait a few minutes, reconnect all the cables and switch on the device and the monitor. Finally, check if “Alt Tab Not Working” is fixed. If not, try the following options.

Make sure it is not your keyboard.

First of all, you need to make sure that your keyboard works correctly and is not damaged. Keys are fragile and can break or press incorrectly if something happens to them.

You can make sure that your Alt and Tab keys are working by going to a website that will automatically detect and display the keys you have pressed. We recommend that you use Key-Test.

The tester cannot distinguish between double keys like Alt. Be sure to check both and make sure that the on-screen keyboard highlights the Alt key when you press it!

If the Alt and Tab keys work correctly, the on-screen keyboard should look like this. Can you see that either key is glowing? This indicates that there is something wrong with your keyboard. Clean it or check if Alt-Tab is working with another keyboard.

Make sure you have enabled the App Switching feature

The Alt + Tab key combination for switching between different applications is enabled by default in Windows 10. However, if you use multiple monitors, you will need to make minor changes.

  • So, open “Settings”, click “System”, then select “Multitasking” in the right pane.
  • At the bottom of the screen, press Alt + Tab. This will display the open windows. Select the option you want.

Change the registry values

Change the ForegroundLockTimeout registry value

Since this is a registration process, it is recommended that you back up the registry or create a system restore point to take the necessary measures. When you are done, you can do the following:

  • Click Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • In the Run dialog box, type regedit and press Enter to open the registry editor.
  • Follow the next path to the registry section:
  • Computer \ HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop
  • Double-click the ForegroundLockTimeout entry in the right pane to change its properties.
  • In the Properties window, select the switch for the decimal number in the Base section.
  • Then set the data value to 0.
  • Click OK to save the changes.
  • Close the Registry Editor and reboot the device.

At startup, check if the problem is solved. If it still does not work, try the following solution.

Change the AltTabSettings registry value.

Step 1 – Open the “Run” command by pressing Windows + R.
Step 2 – Type regedit in the field and press Enter.
Step 3 – Go to the next path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer
Step 4 – Now find DWORD AltTabSettings. If you can’t find it, you have to create a new one. All you have to do is right click on the Explorer button and select New> Dword Value (32 bit). Now type in the name AltTabSettings and press Enter.
Step 5 – Now double-click AltTabSettings, set it to 1 and click OK.

After performing all these steps you may be able to solve the “Alt + Tab does not work in Windows 10” problem. However, if you still have the same problem, you can implement another method.

Reinstall the keyboard driver

1) Press the key with the Windows + R logo on the keyboard (simultaneously) to open the “Run” dialog box.
2) Enter devmgmt.msc and press OK.
3) Explore and expand the keypads. Then right-click the keyboard driver to select “Delete device”.
4) Reboot your computer so that Windows can reinstall the keyboard driver.

How to Fix Unable to Connect to Internet in Windows 10

Without an Internet connection it’s quite difficult to watch a movie or read your favorite daily news on the Internet, but we will fix it in the shortest possible time.

First of all, you should know that Internet connection errors can be caused not only by Windows 10 operating system, but also in terms of equipment.

If you want to quickly and safely fix your Internet connection in Windows 10, you just need to follow the simple methods listed below in the correct order.

Check the basics on your PC

  • Make sure that Wi-Fi is enabled.
  • Swipe from the right edge of the screen, select Settings, and then select the network icon.
  • Activate Wi-Fi.
    • Verify that your notebook’s Wi-Fi physical switch is enabled. (A light indicator usually indicates that it is on).
    • Make sure that your computer is not in flight mode.
    • Swipe from the right edge of the screen, select Settings, and then select the network icon.
  • Turn off the flight mode.
  • If possible, get closer to your router or access point.
    • If you don’t see the network name at all, your router or access point may not be configured to send the network name. In this case, you should login manually.
    • Swipe from the right edge of the screen, then select Settings.
    • Click the network icon, then click Hidden network.
    • Enter the network name and click Next.
    • Enter the password and click Next.
  • Follow the additional instructions to login.
  • The network will be added to your network list and you can install it when your computer is within range of the network. Perform the following steps to connect to the network:
  • Open “Connecting to a network” by clicking the network icon in the notification area.
  • Select “Network without name”, select “Connect” and enter network information. The Network will be added to your network list and will be ready for use in the future when your computer is within range of the network.

Confirm that other devices cannot connect.

Before proceeding with troubleshooting, it is important to determine if your computer is the only device without an Internet connection. Take your phone or other computer connected to Wi-Fi and see if it is properly connected to the network.

On Android, you will see the X icon on the Wi-Fi icon, and you will find that you are connected to your cellular network for data transfer. iPhone and iPad users can go to “Settings”> “Wi-Fi” and find the message “No Internet connection”.

If your computer is the only one that can’t connect, it’s most likely due to the wrong setting only on this device. However, if you do not have the Internet on all devices, the problem is with your network equipment. This way, you can skip some of the following steps for PC only.

Before continuing, you should perform a quick check if the problem affects all your devices. Disconnect the Ethernet cable connecting the modem to your router and instead connect your computer directly to the modem.

If you can log in with this setting, the problem is with your router. If you try to fix the problems below and do not solve the problem, it is likely that your router is faulty.

Check for Windows updates.

These updates can fix problems and download the latest software and drivers needed to work effectively.

To upgrade Windows 10, you will need Internet access. If you’re having trouble connecting to a Wi-Fi network, consider using a public Wi-Fi hotspot with no download restrictions, at work, or at a friend’s house.

If you choose to use public Wi-Fi, take the appropriate steps before connecting.

Uninstall the drivers for your network card

Your Windows computer recognizes your network card because the drivers are installed on your computer. If there is a problem with drivers, it can lead to problems such as “Windows can’t connect to this network”.

One way to solve driver problems is to uninstall your device and drivers. Your computer will then automatically install the appropriate and required drivers for your device.

  • Use the Cortana search to find and run Device Manager.
  • Expand the network adapter menu by clicking on it. Then select your wireless adapter from the list, right-click it and select “Remove device”.
  • Select the Uninstall software driver for this device checkbox and click Uninstall. The device and its drivers will be uninstalled from your computer.
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Your computer will automatically find and install the necessary drivers for your adapter.
