What is WMI Provider Host?

A WMI provider host is one of many components that make up the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) framework. This component provides a way for applications to access information about computer hardware and software resources. In addition, it allows administrators to manage those computers remotely.

The WMI provider host loads into memory when you start a program that uses WMI. If you are running Windows 10, the WMI provider host is included in every application installed on your PC. However, some programs do not use WMI, and therefore do not require the WMI provider host to run.

If you are planning to upgrade to Windows 10, you must ensure that the WMI provider host works correctly before installing the update. You can test the functionality of the WMI provider host by opening the Services applet in Control Panel. If the WMI provider host does not work correctly, you might experience problems with certain services. For example, some services cannot function properly if the WMI provider host fails to load.

You can also try uninstalling the WMI provider host manually. Then expand the list of devices under Hardware, select Local Area Connection, and then double-click the WMI provider host. Finally, press Uninstall.

To confirm that the WMI provider hosts are working correctly, you can perform a manual scan of your computer. Type wmicoservices /all. Press Enter. Look for the following entry:

Name : WmiServiceInstance

Path : \\??\ROOT\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ComponentServices\{E4C24247-3B8F-1069-AC5A-00AA003886CB}

Method 1: Fix Corrupted files To Fix WMI Provider Host Error

Windows Resource Protection didn’ t find any corruption problems. This error appears if there are a problem with your registry. This error usually occurs after installing software or hardware. To fix this issue, you must repair the corrupted files manually. This will help you resolve theWMIproviderhosterror.

Method 2: Reboot Windows Management Instrumentation Service

Restarting the PC will clean up any temporary files or processes left behind by previous software installations. This will free up space on the hard drive, allowing Windows to run faster and smoother.

Restarting the computer will reset any settings that are causing problems. If you recently installed a program or changed some system settings, restarting the computer will let it know about those changes and return everything to normal.

Method 3: Fix High CPU Usage via Elevated Command Prompt Window

If you’re running into high CPU usage issues while browsing the web or opening files, it could be caused by one of several different things. Here we’ll show you how to check what process is causing the issue, and how to kill it.

The first thing to do is open up Task Manager. If you don’t know where to find it, just press CTRL+ALT+DELETE on your keyboard. Once there, navigate to Processes tab and look for anything named explorer.exe. You can see here that Explorer.exe is consuming over 50% of the CPU.

You can close out of this window and go back to Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc., and try again. However, if you want to keep using those browsers, you’ll need to figure out why Explorer.exe is hogging up so much memory.

To start troubleshooting, you can use Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up the task manager. From here, you can select the process called explorer.exe and click End Task. This will end the process and free up some RAM.

However, if you still notice a high CPU load, you might want to take another approach. One way to solve this issue is to run the command prompt as administrator. To do this, type cmd in the Start Menu Search bar and hit Enter. When prompted, enter “cmd /K”, followed by pressing ENTER. Then, type “net stop explorer”. Press ENTER twice to confirm.

Now, you’ll be able to browse the internet without worrying about your computer getting too hot. You can always restart your computer once you’ve done everything. Just make sure you save your work beforehand.

We hope this helps!

Method 4: Perform a System Scan

Malware or viruses can cause problems with Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). This happens because malware uses WMI to perform actions such as sending spam emails. To prevent this, you should run a system scan before rebooting your computer. A reboot is required to apply security patches to the operating system. You should also perform virus scans before rebooting your system.

The following steps show how to perform a system scan in Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), Internet Explorer 11, and Windows Defender. For instructions on how to use MSE, see Method 3: Use Microsoft Security Essentials. For instructions on howto use IE11, see Method 2: Run Internet Explorer 11. For instructions on howtouse Windows Defender, see Method 5: Run Windows Defender.

Perform a System Scan

1. If you are prompted to select a program to open, choose OK.

2. Type the command sfc /scannow. Press Enter.

3. Wait for the process to complete. When it finishes, type exit.

4. Reboot your PC.

Method 5: Repair WMI Provider Host Error By Performing A Clean Boot

WMI providers are used by many Windows components including Microsoft Management Console (MMC), System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Windows Update Agent (WUA), and others. When you install a WMI provider, it adds itself to the list of installed WMI providers. If there is already another instance of the same WMI provider installed, Windows will use the existing instance instead of creating a new one. This process is known as WMI provider host. However, sometimes, one or two applications can cause the WMI provider to become unstable. In such cases, the WMI provider host might consume too much CPU resources.

In some situations, the WMI provider can be fixed by simply rebooting the computer. But, in most cases, rebooting the machine does not solve the issue. Therefore, we recommend that you perform a clean boot to isolate and identify the application causing the problem. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Restart the computer.

2. Press F8 repeatedly while the computer boots up. You will reach a screen where you can select Advanced Options.

3. Select Safe Mode.

4. Once you have booted into safe mode, open Task Manager and end the processes related to the problematic application. For example, if the application is Internet Explorer, close IE.

5. Reboot the computer normally.

Method 6: Use Event Viewer

If you are having trouble installing Windows 10, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

1. Check the event viewer

The Event Viewer is where errors and system information are stored. 2. Open the Event Viewer

Click the Start menu and type Event Viewer in the Search box. Then press Enter.

3. Look for any errors

In the left pane of the window, look for any errors that might indicate why the installation isn’t working properly. Here’s what you should see:

Method 7: Deactivate HP Software Framework Service

This method fixes the WMI Provider Host CPU Usage Error. If you are getting the following error while trying to install/uninstall Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17097 on a computer running Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2, follow the steps below to fix it.

Step #1: Open Command Prompt window as administrator.

Step #2: Type the following command and press Enter key.

Step #3: Copy the output into Notepad and save it to a.txt file.

Method 8: Install Windows 10 in a clean way.

Microsoft recently announced that it had fixed a bug in Windows 10 that could cause some PCs to stop working properly. This issue affected computers running Windows 7 SP1, 8.1, and 10. Microsoft says that the problem occurred because the operating system incorrectly identified certain devices as being compatible with Windows 10 despite not actually supporting the latest version of Windows. If you’ve been experiencing problems like this, here are three ways to fix it.

Step 1: Back Up Your Files

Before you begin, make sure to back up everything on your PC. You don’t want to lose data due to mistakes during the process. Step 2: Install Windows 10

Once you’ve backed up your files, you’ll next need to install Windows 10. Start by downloading the ISO file for Windows 10 Home Edition. The download link is located at the bottom of the article. Once you’ve downloaded the file, burn it onto a DVD or USB flash drive using Nero Burning ROM. Insert the disc into your computer and boot off of it. When prompted, press R to enter the setup menu. Select Language Options, Time & Region, and Keyboard Settings, and then click Next. Click Repair My Computer to start the repair process.

Step 3: Update Windows 10

After the repair process finishes, you’ll see a screen asking whether you’d like to update to the latest version of Windows 10. Click Yes. After the update completes, restart your computer.
